WORKING WITHIN YOUR PERIMITERS

It seems each and every day brings me the pleasure of dealing with people that are the "all knowing". The one that wears many hats seems to be the one that crosses paths with me everyday. Not sure if it is the economy, cockiness of people or just my luck.

Maybe it is my look or my blonde hair (all joking aside), but I do know what I am doing in my business. I may be a younger adult, but not wet behind the ear. I do, however, learn something new everyday as most would not admit, of course since they know it all. I demand respect and demand to be taken seriously in the real estate business, but alot of people think that if you do not have age behind you that you are missing the skill as well. COMPLETELY FALSE!

I am so very tired of the "I've been in business for blah, blah years" song and dance. Typically when I hear this, I already know the deal is over before it starts. Please sell for your clients, I don't need to be sold. You are not working for me! I understand you may be great, but that carries no weight to me. Pat on the back for you and two thumbs up. Now, lets carry on with business.

The big problem is trying to assist a client with something you do not have previous experience with or very little knowledge of. This make things tricky. Not just for yourself, but your client, other agents and anyone else party to the transaction. You simply cannot represent your client the way you should and in turn are doing a disservice to your client. The easiest way to handle this situation is to refer it to a qualified agent for a referral fee, or simply ask them to team up with you on the transaction. Either way is a win-win for all. If you refer it out, you get paid after they do all the work and if you team up, ditto and you just might learn something along the way. Also, most importantly, your client is represented the way they should be and you finish the deal. WHAT A CONCEPT!

So in turn, today's lesson Ladies and Gents below for your viewing pleasure....
Please read carefully and repeat if necessary until it sinks in....

Information as provided by REALTOR.ORG.

Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ® Effective January 1, 2009

"Article 11: The services which REALTORS® provide to their clients and customers shall conform to the standards of practice and competence which are reasonably expected in the specific real estate disciplines in which they engage; specifically, residential real estate brokerage, real property management, commercial and industrial real estate brokerage, real estate appraisal, real estate counseling, real estate syndication, real estate auction, and international real estate.

REALTORS® shall not undertake to provide specialized professional services concerning a type of property or service that is outside their field of competence unless they engage the assistance of one who is competent on such types of property or service, or unless the facts are fully disclosed to the client. Any persons engaged to provide such assistance shall be so identified to the client and their contribution to the assignment should be set forth. (Amended 1/95) "

In conclusion, if you do not know something, find out from someone that does, or call your local Association of Realtors or simply go to www.Realtor.org and do a little homework. Fellow agents would appreciate this, as well as your clients.

*The moral of the blog today, Respect others, especially in your field and represent your clients the best way possible, even if it requires you to admit you do not know something and have to ask for help. This will make you a better representative for you clients.

Jumping in with both feet!

Well, here I go......

I am testing out this blogging thing. Not sure what I am doing, do not care at this juncture. Had to search what "blogging" meant online, go figure.

Trying to move into the tech world and be a little more savvy, considering everyone else I surround myself with has been "blogging" for some time now. "Blogging" sounded like something dirty that was a new word for what the kids were calling you-know-what nowadays.

I will incorporate this with my website, which needs critical updating, and will hope to add humorous, informative information in blogs to come.

I will keep all updated in my new venture!
